Aspect Ratio Calculator

by CJ Bruce on April 15, 2009

Digital Rebellion has a free online aspect ratio calculator. It’s simple, quick and effective. You can use it when someone asks you what is the aspect ratio of that clip? You just punch in the height and width and this program will tell you. Its also great for when you need to blow up or shrink a clip.

Another great use for this is when you want to embed video online. Say the standard YouTube embed is something like 500×311, but where you want to embed it is only 300 pixels wide. You can use this tool to first determine what the aspect ratio of the original embed is, then adjust the width to what you want and it will automatically tell you the height to keep the aspect ratio the same.
